I’m New

Visiting Mio Baptist

When you visit Mio Baptist for the first time, you will truly be our guest! We understand that stepping into a church you are unfamiliar with can be intimidating. For that reason, we have ushers at the doors to greet you, answer any questions you may have and show you around. Our church family is friendly and welcoming to guests and would love to get to know you!

Our Service Times

We believe that meeting together as a body of believers is a vital part of the Christian life. We have several opportunities to gather and would love to have you join us at any one of them.

How Should I Dress?

There is no formal dress code at Mio Baptist, and we would never want you to stay away because you are unsure of what to wear. Many of our members and leaders do wear more traditional “Sunday” dress, but it is not required.

Ministries

Quality nursery care is available during all services. Our mission is to provide a clean, safe environment for your little ones so that you can enjoy being a part of our services interruption free! Our trained and caring staff will walk you through the check-in process and answer any questions you may have.

We love children at Mio Baptist Church! We have graded Sunday School on Sunday mornings along with Children’s Church during the adult’s “big church.” On Wednesday evenings, we offer Tiny Trackers for children ages 3-5, and Truth Trackers for grades 1-6. We also have the Kids Fun Zone where kids can romp and play during fellowship activities.

Teens are an important part of our ministry. Teens have their own Sunday school class each Sunday along with special teen activities at regularly scheduled times throughout the year. A big emphasis is also placed on Christian camp each summer.

Adults may choose from one of three adult Sunday schools. We offer numerous fellowship and service opportunities during the year.

We encourage all our seniors to participate in our “Prime Timers” activities consisting of pot luck dinners and other special events.

Counseling

Reformers Unanimous

We offer private and confidential counseling for those dealing with addictions of any kind. Whether you struggle with alcoholism, smoking, drug abuse, pornography or any type of addiction, all you need to do is call our office to make an appointment.

Marriage Coaching

Marriage coaching is available upon request. We have experienced great success using the marriage materials of Dr. Willard Harley. His practical and helpful insights have proven very beneficial.

Spiritual Counseling

You have questions; we have answers. Whatever problem you may be experiencing, we would love to help you with. We believe Bible-based counseling offers the best hope for anyone overwhelmed with the challenges of life.

Upcoming Events

Glynn McMorris, Senior Pastor

Pastor Glynn McMorris and his wife Sharron came to Mio Baptist Church in June, 1991.

Pastor graduated from Louisiana State University in 1975, then began his Christian ministry at Central Baptist Christian School in Baton Rouge, serving 12 years as principal and basketball coach. He received his master’s degree from Pensacola Christian College in 1982, and in 1987, he relocated to Chicago where he helped to establish a Christian School.

Sharron serves as our church secretary and is active in the church choir, sings solos and is a member of the Joyful Sounds Trio. She also occasionally speaks at ladies retreats.

Pastor and Sharron have three children: Jeremy, who is a pastor in Texas; Erin, who lives in Mio; and Matt, who is a pastor in Wisconsin. The Lord has blessed them with seven grandchildren.

Jamie Lundquist, Assistant Pastor

Pastor Jamie and his family began their ministry at Mio Baptist in October 2012. Previously, they served the Lord for over 10 years in the area of youth work. They met while attending Christian college. Jamie received a Bachelor of Arts in Youth Ministry in 2004 while Amber received a Bachelor of Arts in Sacred Piano in 1999. They were married in 2001 and have been blessed with three beautiful children.

Jamie has a passion for preaching God’s Word in a clear, practical way that exalts Christ, encourages believers and evangelizes unbelievers. He wants people to know that serving God is exciting! He enjoys woodworking, anything outside and spending time with his family.

Amber is the church pianist and is a wonderful ministry companion. She loves being a homemaker, reading, crafts, gardening, being outdoors and spending time with her family.
